The Mega Khimki shopping center near Moscow will reopen to visitors from December 29, company representatives said. All entrances will be available to visitors, as well as ground parking. At the same time, some shops and a playground located in the area adjacent to the burned-out OBI construction hypermarket will remain closed for now. The company stressed that before the opening of the shopping center, inspections were carried out, which indicate that the premises where visitors will be allowed can be operated as usual and do not pose a danger to human life and health. On December 9, a fire broke out in the OBI hypermarket located in the Mega Khimki shopping center, followed by a powerful explosion. After that, the roof collapsed. The security guard of the hypermarket died. On the fact of the fire, a criminal case was initiated on the provision of services that do not meet safety requirements. Investigators said that the cause of the fire was welding that did not meet safety requirements. The latest inspection at the OBI in Khimki revealed almost 50 fire safety violations. Three suspects have been arrested in connection with the mall fire.
