New Delhi: “Our nation is always indebted to the armed forces,” PM Modi tweeted on Victory Day. India won the last war with Pakistan in 1971. After Pakistan’s defeat, Pakistani forces led by General Amir Abdullah Khan Niazi surrendered unconditionally in Dhaka to the coalition forces led by Lt. General Jagjit Singh Arora on 16 December. After the conflict ended, Bangladesh became independent. More than 3000 Indian soldiers sacrificed their lives in this war. In order to celebrate this great victory, December 16th is celebrated as Vijay Diwas every year. On this day, the soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the war are remembered and paid tribute to them. Today’s Victory Day is being celebrated all over the country. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh laid a wreath at the war memorial in Delhi. Then the tri-army commanders also paid tribute. Meanwhile, on Vijay Diwas, the day of victory, various leaders have fondly remembered the soldiers who sacrificed their lives. The nation is always indebted to the armed forces soldiers who help keep our country safe.” Defense Minister Anjali: Today on Victory Day, the nation pays tribute to the bravery, valor and sacrifice of the armed forces of India. The war of 1971 was a victory of humanity over inhumanity. Virtue over vice is the victory of justice over injustice. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said that India is proud of its armed forces. He laid a wreath at the war memorial in Delhi and paid tribute. He also signed the memorandum.
