Indian Cricketers Skip Meal with Complaints of ‘Cold Food’

The Indian Cricket Team in the ongoing T20 Cricket World Cup has raised questions about the quality of food provided to them.

SYDNEY: The Indian Cricket Team had to skip lunch over unhappiness about the quality of food that has been provided to the team. Apparently, only sandwiches and fruits were part of the menu and lacked warm meals. The cricketers informally expressed their unhappiness regarding the food served by the International Cricket Council (ICC). After beating the arch-rivals Pakistan in a thriller of a match in Melborne on Sunday, the Indian team moved to Sydney. But according to reports from the ground, the food quality was not up to the mark. Only cold food and sandwiches were served to the players after their practice sessions instead of a full meal. The training session was over by afternoon and the players were expecting a full course menu for lunch as the given food was not adequate. Most of the players skipped the food served at the venue and headed back to the allocated hotel for a proper meal of their choice."The food that was offered to Team India was not good. They were just given sandwiches and they have also told ICC that food provided after a practice session in Sydney was cold and not good," a BCCI source mentioned. "It's not like any boycott. Some players did pick up fruits and falafel but everyone wanted to have lunch and hence they had food going back to the hotel," he said. Some reports have mentioned that after-practice food included custom sandwiches along with fruits and falafe in that part of the world. "You can't just have a cold sandwich (not even grilled) with avocado, tomato and cucumber after two hours of training. That is plain and simple inadequate nourishment," the BCCI person added.Rohit Sharma led India to win a thriller in front of a 90000 crowd in Melbourne last weekend and the match broke several records. They have their next match scheduled for Thursday with the Netherlands According to an official update from the BCCI, there were no net sessions scheduled on the eve of the match. But reports mentioned that India is not practising on Wednesday because the venue provided to them for practice is approximately 45 minutes away from the hotel. The International Cricket Council (ICC) is responsible for the food and lodging of all teams during these international tournaments. While in smaller competitions the host country and its cricket association bear the same. Also Read : Prayagraj Hospital to be Taken Down After Medical NegligenceAlso Watch:
