In a major feat of Assam Police, the police forces recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunitions

A CORRESPONDENTTANGLA: In a major feat of Assam Police, the police forces recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunitions, including AK series assault rifles from 1 No. Sikari Danga village along the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border near Mazbat in the Udalguri district on Sunday morning. The war-like store of arms and ammunitions, which included 3 AK-47 rifle, 6 magazines and 620 rounds of ammunition, were found buried inside the forest. The operation was carried out under the supervision of Udalguri Additional Superintendent of Police, Bidyut Das Boro who was accompanied by police officials of Mazbat PS and Lalpani Police Outpost. However, police forces are yet to ascertain as to which insurgent outfit had hidden the armourery deep inside the forest. Pertinently, after the third Bodo peace pact, the State Government had made claims of making the Bodo belt violence and arms free. However, off late the incidents of violence and recovery of illegal arms and ammunitions have raised doubts on the claims of the government and as well as security agencies.
