Cheques under Assam Micro-Finance Incentive and Relief Scheme (AMFIRS) - 2021-2022, Category-II were distributed among the borrowers of microfinance loans in Lakhimpur district

A CORRESPONDENTLAKHIMPUR: Cheques under Assam Micro-Finance Incentive and Relief Scheme (AMFIRS) - 2021-2022, Category-II were distributed among the borrowers of microfinance loans in Lakhimpur district on Sunday. On this occasion, a ceremonial programme was organized at the Tyag Kshetra of North Lakhimpur town under the auspices of the Finance Department of the Government of Assam and Lakhimpur district administration. Attending the event as the chief guest, the distribution of the cheques under the AMFIRS - 2021-2022, Category-II was formally inaugurated by Atul Borah, the Minister for Agriculture, Horticulture, Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Departments, who is also the Guardian Minister of Lakhimpur district. Notably, a total of 9010 women borrowers of Lakhimpur district have received the cheques under AMFIRS - 2021-2022, Category-II. In this connection, the Finance Department under Government of Assam has released a fund amounting to Rs. 15,33,35,133 to the district. AMFIRS - 2021-2022, Category II includes borrowers whose payments are outstanding for one to 89 days and this rollout will cover 1.07 lakh beneficiaries across the State. Under this scheme, the borrowers have received a maximum amount of Rs. 20,000 to pay their loans. Speaking on the occasion, Minister Atul Borah appreciated Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for launching the AMFIRS for waiving the microfinance loans of the women in Assam. He said that the scheme would be potent enough to resolve the issues of the microfinance companies' loan borrowers of Assam by redeeming them from their sufferings and depression caused by the failure of paying the loans due to various occasions and to empower them financially again through their productive activities. He called upon all to pay their loans in time if they had to take loans for various occasions, academic purpose, launching of new business, initiative of productive activities etc. The event was attended by Lakhimpur MP Pradan Baruah, MLA Manab Deka, Deputy Commissioner Sumit Sattawan, SP Bedanta Madhab Rajkhowa, various officers of the district administration. During the visit to the district, Minister Atul Borah, on the same day, laid the foundation stone of an administrative building and guest house in Lakhimpur College of Veterinary Science, located at Joyhing.
