Box Office Overseas: Thank God takes the lead at the United Kingdom box office; Ram Setu follows close behind

This Diwali a lot has changed, in fact, for the first-time post Covid we see new releases hitting screen unhindered, as compared to last Diwali when Sooryavanshi hit screens with a limitation of 50% occupancy. Making the most of the extended festive weekend this year are the two releases Thank God and Ram Setu. While the first features Sidharth Malhotra and Ajay Devgn the second headlines Akshay Kumar. But which of the two vastly different films will manage to capture the audiences’ attention is the question. In the domestic market, the Akshay starrer Ram Setu has taken the lead at the box office, with Thank God in close pursuit. On the other hand, in the overseas market of UK, it is the Sidharth Malhotra – Ajay Devgn starrer Thank God that leads the charge. Collecting USD 19,472 [Rs. 15.97 lakhs] from 83 screens the film has taken a lead over Ram Setu which drew in USD 16,595 [Rs. 13.61 lakhs] from 95 screens on Day 1. Surprisingly, despite featuring a higher screen count Ram Setu seems to be lagging behind, however given the positive feedback the film has received from the audience it is likely to see growth over the coming day. As of now, Thank God which has garnered good reviews from audience and critics is likely to hold strong with a good increase in collections on the card, while Ram Setu will have to rely on positive word of mouth going forward. All the same though, with both releases making full use of the extended weekend, it is likely that both releases will see a massive increase in business.
