Tawang Festival is one of the most anticipated events of the state of Arunachal Pradesh.

ITANAGAR: As a result of recent developments, the 2022 edition of the Tawang festival has been canceled. It is celebrated in Arunachal Pradesh every year.The cancellation of the festival was decided to pass a mark of respect to MLA Jambey Tashi. The MLA passed away on November 2 in Guwahati.The Tawang festival was scheduled to start from November 4, for a period of three days.The Tawang festival is one of the most anticipated festivals in the Northeast. Huge mass of the audience visits Arunachal Pradesh every year to attend the festival.The said festival was held for the first time in the year 2012.It is to be noted that the deceased MLA, Jambey Tashi was a patron of the Tawang festival.The BJP MLA, Jambey Tashi represented the Lumla constituency in Arunachal Pradesh. He breathed his last at the Down Town Hospital in Guwahati, Assam during the early morning hours on Wednesday.The MLA was 48 years old when he embraced death.He is also a cousin of Pema Khandu, the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh.This year's Tawang festival was looking forward to witness the performances of bollywood play back singers Ash King and Nikhil Dsouza. Other performers meant to be present in the festival were Faisak Ashoor from Ladakh, Pasang Lhamu – a Tibetan singer from Canada, musical band from Bhutan Mist Terrace, and Melina Rai – a singer from Nepal.The audience anticipating the festival was also looking forward to witnessing singers from Itanagar, the likes of which includes Jeli Kayi, Rito Riba, k4-kekho, and Chorun Mugli. Along with it many folk artists from the northeastern region and from the host state were also supposed to perform in the festival. The inaugural ceremony of the festival was scheduled to start at 9.00 am on 4th November at the old market.
