When authorities pulled over the tanker, it was en route from Naharani in the Sivasagar district to Dhemaji.

DIBRUGARH: Dibrugarh Police, in an effort to combat oil theft, detained four suspects early on Tuesday and confiscated 8,000 liters of stolen condensate oil from an oil tanker near the Bogibeel Bridge near Dibrugarh. The individuals who were detained have been named Dipak Changmai, Tilak Dihingia, Rajen Dihingia (the driver), and Bhuban Bora (the helper). When authorities pulled over the tanker, it was en route from Naharani in the Sivasagar district to Dhemaji. The crude oil transportation pipelines owned by Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) or Oil India Limited (OIL) are thought to have been used to steal the condensate oil.It should be noted that the OIL introduced drone surveillance services for its installations and oil and gas pipelines in Assam in October 2021 due to an increase in oil thefts and pilferage. This was done to prevent crude oil theft, theft of pipes, tampering with well heads, and tapping of crude oil delivery pipelines.By enabling real-time/near real-time detection of intruders, and speedier detection of fire accidents, crude oil leaks, and spills, the drone surveillance project seeks to stop criminal activity at numerous OIL sites.1,700 liters of condensate oil that had been taken out from the crude oil transportation pipelines of Oil India Limited (OIL) were also found earlier this year by Tinsukia police. A police squad and OIL security officers found the condensate oil that had been taken by tampering with oil pipelines from inside the Lakhipathar reserve forest close to Dimahula hamlet in the Makum region, according to the police. For oil corporations in Assam, such as Oil India Limited and the ONGC, crude oil theft has been a significant problem. Even drones have been purchased by Oil India Limited for the purpose of monitoring their pipelines and other products. The surveillance is primarily carried out to prevent theft of crude oil, condensate, pipes, tampering with wellheads, and tapping of pipelines used to distribute crude oil. Also read: Tanker driver detained over oil theft in GuwahatiAlso watch:
